USPA NEWS - The journey into the Emirates Stadium set the tone for the night. In the taxi ride in, and then on the walk through the surrounding streets, there was a real sense of belief and anticipation among fans. It felt like this was our time — a moment Arsenal supporters had been building towards for years.

I attended the Champions League final screening at the Emirates Stadium, watching Arsenal’s defeat unfold alongside thousands of supporters inside the ground.
The night began in dream fashion, with Kai Havertz scoring an early goal that triggered wild celebrations throughout the Emirates. The roar felt instant and explosive, with supporters believing this could be the defining moment of Arsenal’s European season.

After taking the lead, Arsenal dropped deeper and began defending far too early, allowing PSG to dominate possession with roughly 75% of the ball. Despite that, PSG initially struggled to break Arsenal down, with the defence holding firm for long spells under sustained pressure.

The match also saw two penalty shouts, with only one ultimately awarded in PSG’s favour, and whilst the right decision, was one that added to the sense of frustration among supporters watching inside the Emirates.
As the game progressed, Arsenal’s intent to protect the lead became more pronounced, and the side gradually lost attacking outlet and control. PSG’s dominance in possession eventually translated into sustained pressure, forcing Arsenal deeper and deeper as the game wore on. Not another shot on target followed for arsenal and as we were outplayed by PSG, there was a sense of nervousness with penalties looming.

The match ended in heartbreak, Gabriel missing a penalty felt so cruel after such a stand out season.

Reminiscent of the Euro 2020 final at Wembley, an early goal followed by a loss on penalties and this now marks two separate penalty shootout heartbreaks experienced first-hand, adding a personal layer to what has become a familiar and painful pattern in major finals.

The feeling of sorrow among supporters was surprisingly short-lived and shifted to pride. Pride for how far this team had come. Within hours, attention shifted back to celebration, with a parade through London honouring Arsenal’s Premier League title triumph. 22 years in the making. The contrast between European disappointment and domestic success defined the season’s emotional finale. Despite the result, the atmosphere inside the Emirates throughout reflected unity, belief, and pride in how far the team has come. The years to come now are Arsenal's and we will do the double next year instead.
